Tomorrow is one month until our first wedding anniversary and my husband and I have decided we want to go with traditional anniversary gifts to mark the occasion.
The first year is ‘paper’ so I thought I would do a little ‘gift guide’ with some paper based first wedding anniversary gift ideas (my husband joked that he is going to buy me a newspaper for our anniversary – not a recommended gift on my list):
I love the idea of this! My husband and I have travelled a lot, separately and together, and I would love to have something like this to mark out all our travels. (This Etsy shop also does them in canvas for second year anniversaries – cotton)
Initials or date book sculpture
This is an interesting and pretty unique gift. I adore books so I don’t know if I could make my peace with having a carved up book in the house, but it is such a lovely idea for a gift.
I would love this, my husband probably not so much. I think personalised stationery is so beautiful and it is so special now when you get a chance to actually use it and say something in a more meaningful way than in an email. This is stationery by French Navy, they also do personalised! I love French Navy, such beautiful cards.
Artwork with your wedding vows/first dance song
I think this is a lovely idea, and again, something that is unique and personal. This is just one version I found on Etsy, or if you’re super crafty you could do something yourself.
I’m a bit in love with Kikki K’s new lilac and gold series of products. Who wouldn’t want to write in this?
Other ‘paper’ gift ideas for a first wedding anniversary:
It could be plane tickets (although they don’t really do that anymore) to somewhere for a surprise holiday, tickets to a favourite sporting event, or to a concert!
Coffee Table Book
I like this list of 50 coffee table books. Art galleries also usually have an awesome selection of coffee table books. You could also make a coffee table book of your favourite wedding photos through one of the many photo book websites.
What did you get your partner for your first anniversary? Did you stick to the ‘traditional’ gifts?
