Fox in Flats Style Dare for September is well underway and I am loving it! Are you playing along as well?
Instead of inundating you at the end of the month with 30 photos, I thought I’d break it up into the four weeks of September and give you some small updates along the way of what I’ve been wearing. (You can see my post for the start of the dare here).
Day 1 was straight into the classic Style Dare: Red Lipstick
I’m wearing a Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Always Red 01. I love this colour and the formula is really long lasting and not overly drying. I raved about this stuff in my post on my beauty pickups from Europe and my love for it is still going strong!
Day 2: Up-do
I did consider being lazy and do my standard work up-do (a donut bun) but figured that in the spirit of the challenge I should try something new. I saw this fishtail braid bun on Hair Romance a few weeks ago and thought I would give it a go. My requirements for ‘Tuesday hair’ are quick and easy, with something long lasting enough to make it through my lunchtime Xtend Barre class and still look decent enough for work afterwards. This definitely ticked all those boxes, and I have a new fancy up-do!
Day 3: Off the cuff
I love wearing blazers with the sleeves rolled up. Even better when the lining is a fun print like this Zara Blazer with it’s cute polka-dots. I find that having your sleeves rolled up to mid forearm actually creates a slimming illusion as it draws the eye in to the waist.
Day 4: Swishy
I adore this skirt. It was a somewhat ridiculous purchase but I just love it and wearing it makes me so happy. It’s a bright yellow Witchery pleated maxi skirt from 2 years ago with grey tulle along the hem. I always get such great compliments when I wear it and it is one of those skirts that is fun to twirl in. I took this photo on my front deck (I was off work) and there were some tradies working on a roof across the road. I’m sure they were wondering what the hell I was doing swishing around on my deck in a high-vis skirt!
Day 5: Extravagant
A whole new outfit (birthday present from my parents!), top and skirt both from Cue. Wearing something this bright, and this boldly printed is pretty extravagant for my work wear, especially for a Friday, but I love it! This was also the first time I’ve worn this ring which I picked up from Murano and is proper Murano glass. I adore it. I thought it would be too big and too ‘flashy’ (too extravagant!) for work, but I think it was a nice touch and really, what is the point of having nice jewellery if you never wear it!
Day 6: Faux
I struggled a bit with this one. My first instinct was ‘faux fur’ but I don’t have any fur, faux or otherwise! I went with ‘faux’ straight hair. I have very wavy hair naturally, and it is super thick! So thick that all the hairdressers at my salon comment on how thick it is. Every time. As did the lady sitting next to me while I had my colour done last time (‘wow, you have a lot of hair!’). It can be a bit time consuming to straighten but it looks so smooth and sleek afterwards, I really should do it more often!
I’ve been a high fan of ghd for years. I’ve had a ghd straightener for at least 10 years and I could not imagine my hair without one, especially with my fringe at the moment. It is seriously amazing for straightening (and curling if you can master it) and I wouldn’t use anything else to straighten my hair!
Day 7: Inspired by Dad
I was initially stumped by this one but decided to go with a Cricket Australia polo shirt – my dad basically lives in polo shirts when not at work. I’m pretty sure it is his go-to casual look. I love this polo shirt. I picked it up at the SCG when Stu and I went to the cricket in January this year (he got one too, in green though so we don’t match too much!). It’s a really good fit and surprisingly flattering for a ‘sports’ shirt. My dad also loves Cricket (and all sports really) so this shirt covers this prompt on two bases!
So that is my week 1 in Fox in Flats Style Dare. If you’re playing along let me know so I can check out your photos!
