Earlier this week I read this post by Stacey at Veggie Mama about what she took away from her lunch with Seth Godin and it is all amazing blogging (and life) advice, you should definitely read it (but after you read my post!!). Reading it got me thinking about life advice I’ve picked up over the years that’s really stuck with me.
I think one of the best pieces of advice I got was from a video that was shown at church (I can’t even remember who it was or what they were actually speaking about!). They talked about making sure you take time to fill your tank.
We have things in life that drain our tank, and things that fill our tank. We need to make sure that we give of ourselves, because that is definitely a good thing, but not to the point where our tank is so drained we have nothing left to give! We have to find the things that fill our tank, recharge our batteries, however you want to say it.
For me, my tank is filled by spending time with my wonderful husband, by blogging, and by reading. I need to make those things a priority in my week otherwise by Friday afternoon I’ll be absolutely drained.
By making sure I take time to fill my tank, I have more to give and I can get through my week a happier and more balanced individual. And that’s a win for everyone involved!!
What life advice has stuck with you over the years?
