Another week of Fox in Flats Style Dare for September done! Where does the time go? You can catch up from my previous weeks here.
Let’s get straight into it!
Day 15: To the max
I’m not really one to wear maxi dresses to work. Maxi dresses to me say ‘summer holiday’ (and I wore my maxi dresses a lot on our European holiday), but I was determined to complete the challenge! I wore this black Jeanswest maxi dress with gold beading on the bodice with a black blazer (also Jeanswest) to give it a bit more of a ‘work’ look. I actually quite liked how it looked and I’ll have to keep it in mind for summer.
Day 16: Nautical
I went with the very predictable stripes for this prompt. I have at least 10 striped tops but this is my only striped dress! It’s a H&M cheapie I picked up in Europe. It is super comfortable and has a bit of stretch to it so it’s quite forgiving. I ditched the stockings at lunchtime after my Xtend Barre class as it had warmed up a fair bit.
Day 17: Fringe benefits
I had a day off on Wednesday and don’t actually own any fringed clothing so I was struggling! I figured my actual fringe was good enough! I managed to duck down to my hairdresser for a quick fringe trim. You can probably tell from Monday and Tuesday’s pictures just how out of control my fringe was getting! I feel like I can see again!!
Day 18: White out
I don’t generally wear too much white as I’m a bit clumsy and spill food/drinks/pens on myself way too often. I tried to by a white blazer but my husband talked me out of it for the aforementioned reasons. I do have this white lace Witchery dress though. Wearing a white lace dress can look a bit ‘wedding-y’ but I think I managed it okay! I really love this dress but it’s always felt a bit too fancy for work, I really do need to get out of the mindset of having ‘good’ dresses and just wear them for work! Especially as I can’t wear this one to weddings.
Day 19: Layers
Layers in Canberra are a way of life! When I lived in Sydney I never really layered, now I do it out of necessity! It was -1 overnight on this day so the many layers were warranted! I wore a black and white striped Witchery top and black skirt (also Witchery!), a Zara scarf and WE trench coat I picked up in Europe.
Day 20: LBD
I love black, but I have surprisingly few black dresses! This one was a cheapie from H&M in Europe which I adore (I also bought it in blue, which you can see on my ‘About me’ page). It is so light and comfortable and versatile! I ended up buying a fair few ‘easy to throw on’ dresses in Europe because I didn’t have many and it was so hot in Italy!
My husband took this photo and decided he wanted to be an arty photographer. He will only take photos of me if he gets to tell me how to pose and where to stand, which is a pretty fair trade off. He takes a good photo!
Day 21: Bright
This is another Europe pick up, from Promod in Venice. It’s a gorgeous dress and adds some much needed colour to my wardrobe. It’s another light and floaty dress and perfect for spring/summer. We went for a bike ride yesterday afternoon so I had to change out of this into a tshirt and shorts (I was sure I could ride a bike in a dress, Stu was less convinced).
One more week of Fox in Flats Style Dare and it will all be over! I’ll be a bit sad it’s over, especially because I’ll have to think for myself when decided what to wear in the morning!
