It’s Taking Stock time for December, a practice that started with the lovely Pip from Meet Me At Mikes, where we take a moment or two to look back on the month and take stock of where we’re at now. Especially timely around the Christmas/New Year break.
So here we go, for the last time in 2014:
Making: gingerbread cookies for Christmas Day
Cooking: bacon and eggs for Christmas breakfast tomorrow!!
Drinking: lots of water – got to keep hydrated during the silly season people!
Reading: still in the middle of my three different books from last month! I saw this book challenge on Pop Sugar and I really want to give it ago next year. It’s 52 books in a year, which is a lot! But it looks like fun
Wanting: more time, always wanting more time
Looking: forward to some downtime over the Christmas/New Year break. I have from Christmas Day until the 5th of January off work which is the longest I’ve had off around this time since I started working!
Playing: hostess for my family for Christmas this year.
Deciding: that Stu and I will just do small presents for each other this year was such a good call!
Wishing: that the weather will behave itself tomorrow. The forecast has been back and forth for the last week about whether or not we’ll have thunderstorms or sunny weather!
Enjoying: having my little brother staying with us. He’s been here for two nights already and is heading back to Sydney after our family stuff on Christmas Day
Waiting: to open presents!!
Liking: how relaxed we’ve been this Christmas and not overcommitted ourselves
Wondering: what time I’ll get up tomorrow morning. Historically I’m an early riser on Christmas Day even though I am not a morning person. I think it’s the little kid in me getting excited for presents!
Loving: the amazing response to our Christmas link party! Thanks so much for linking your posts!
Pondering: what to do with my time off next week
Considering: making some new curtains for the spare rooms, I am yet to find any nice fabric though
Watching: Masters of Sex. So good
Hoping: that 2015 lives up to its potential
Marvelling: at how quickly this year has gone!!
Needing: some sleep
Smelling: gingerbread and ham in the kitchen, the scent of Christmas
Wearing: a summery, not necessarily work appropriate dress today because I’m only working a half day and there is almost no one else in the office
Following: the Duchess of Cambridge’s maternity fashion (sad, I know). I just love Kate (yep, we’re on first name terms. We’re close like that) and her vast, vast wardrobe.
Noticing: a lot of people aren’t doing Santa with their kids anymore. Do you ‘do Santa’ (not awkward) or are you in the ‘I won’t lie to my children’ camp?
Knowing: that there are not enough hours in a day
Thinking: that I would very much like to stay home today
Admiring: people who have superior wrapping skills. Mine are left wanting. If yours are too, get some last minute inspiration from my awesome gift wrapping ideas post
Sorting: out and culling my wardrobe, a never ending task
Buying: paint and some rollers all ready to paint our spare rooms during our break
Getting: used to my new, shorter hair – so much easier to deal with
Bookmarking: with my Italian bookmarks I rediscovered this week!
Disliking: the feeling of needing to get everything done before I change jobs
Opening: one present on Christmas Eve was a tradition growing up but Stu is very anti it, also we only have one present each to give so we’re not doing it this year
Giggling: at ‘Neighbours from Hell’ on Instagram. Hilarious
Feeling: exhausted. It’s been a looong year and I’m ready for a little break.
Snacking: on all the chocolates people keep giving me as Christmas presents. So bad, but so good
Coveting: any beauty gift packs that come out around Christmas time. They’re so beautiful, I want them all!
Helping: my husband tape and paint our spare rooms over the next week or so… should be fun (right?)
Hearing: Christmas carols everywhere! I think I’m almost ready for something else
I hope you’ve had a great December! What have you been eating and drinking this month?
