Time behaves really differently when you’re pregnant. Last week someone asked me how many weeks I was, I said almost 18 and they said ‘wow that went quick!’ Not to me!! I feel like I’ve been pregnant forever and I haven’t even hit the halfway mark yet.
I have about 4 months left at work now which when I say it like that doesn’t seem very long, but I’ve only been pregnant for 4 and a bit months and it seems like a really long time!
Part of me can’t believe I’m almost at the halfway mark (even though it’s been a long time coming!) and it’s still a bit surreal to me that there is a baby in there!
This is post is somewhat of a mind dump of all things pregnancy related at the moment, so please excuse the complete lack of connection between any of the below paragraphs!
I got my first pair of maternity jeans and they are amazing! I was really missing being able to just pull on a pair of jeans for the weekend so I am really glad I bought some. I got these Seraphine Maternity jeans^ because they had really good reviews and I wanted a pair that didn’t button up – I have enough problems with jeans digging in when I’m not pregnant, I didn’t really want to deal with that now!
My boobs have suddenly decided to start growing again which is really annoying, despite what my husband thinks! They were already on the big side to start with and got much bigger in the first trimester. (Side note: sweet mercy, it was painful!! I was sticking icepacks down my top for a good couple of weeks!) I waited til they settled down and got some new bras, which are now borderline too tight!! It’s cleavage city here at the moment. Just call me Busty St Clair or Chesty La Rue.
I’m finally starting to sleep a bit better now which is taking some of the edge of the exhaustion. Still wishing the exhaustion would actually go away but this will do for now. I also sleep with a million pillows, which my husband just loves. I bought a Bellybean pillow on the recommendation of a couple of people and it was a bit weird at first but I totally love it now.
Apparently I have occasionally (or not so occasionally, depending on who you believe) been elbowing and kicking poor Stu in my sleep. Three quarters of the bed just isn’t enough guys. I need it all! So my darling husband slept on the couch a week or so ago because he needed an assault free night of sleep.
He confessed to me the next morning that it was actually so I would get a good nights sleep and be able to take up all the bed because I clearly needed it. What a sweetie.
Fun pregnancy fact: did you know that when you’re pregnant the mucous membranes in your nasal passages swell and make any sinus issues you may already have worse? I already had sinus problems (lots of ear infections growing up and hay fever like crazy when I moved to Canberra) so my sinuses are going crazy right now. I’m really glad I’m not pregnant in spring, I don’t think I could survive that!!
Despite my whinging, it’s all going well. I am thankful it has been a complication free pregnancy to this point, but I wouldn’t go as far as saying it’s easy. It’s hard and I don’t find it as easy as I thought I would but most of the time it’s pretty good.
Craving: still on carbs. All of the carbs. And Easter Eggs (although, hard to say if that’s a legitimate craving or just a really good excuse)
Eating: all the time. I am seriously ravenous most of the time now. I had two dinners the other night (one at 10pm because I was too hungry to sleep!)
Drinking: pulp-free orange juice because Coles didn’t deliver my normal pulpy juice. It’s just not the same. I need the pulp!
Feeling: look, I want to say tired because it’s true, but this will be super boring if I always say I am tired (because, lets face it, I’m always going to be tired from now until eternity). So I will say I’m feeling good, with a side order of lazy.
Dreaming: either crazy things or nothing at all. I had a dream that Mamamia wrote an article about something a blogger friend said about me. My dreams are so self-centered! Also, when I dream of the baby it’s always a boy which is so weird because we’re convinced it’s a girl. Maybe my subconscious knows something I don’t?
Loving: that we’re so close to the halfway mark and seeing little jellybean again! I’m hanging out for that next ultrasound.
Over it: sinus issues. Seriously not fun, and you can’t even take any of the good stuff for it!
Did you find time moved at a glacial pace when you were pregnant?
Today I’m linking up with Essentially Jess for #IBOT (I blog on Tuesdays)
