It’s the 10th which means it’s time for my ’10 on 10′ where I join up with some other lovely bloggers to share our ’10 on 10′ – 10 pictures on the 10th that tells the story of a day in our life. It’s a big linky loop of love so make sure you check out the link to the next blog at the bottom of my post and make your way around the loop to check out the 10 on 10 from my bloggy friends.
This is such a fun way to keep a photographic record of different stages of our lives (especially for me now as I’m growing this little one!) and a little peek into the lives of some other bloggers, which deep down we all love!
I’ve previously said I wouldn’t do a workday for my 10 on 10 because they’re so boring, but it occurred to me that very soon my life will be so different and it would be kind of nice to have a ‘day in the life’ type post before I have kids and then one after to see just how much things have changed!!
So, onto my 10 and sharing a typical day in my life!
7am – Get woken up by my husband who has come in from the spare room. Neither of us have been sleeping well at the moment (me because I’m pregnant and uncomfortable and need all the room and him because apparently I kick him in my sleep and steal the doona) so Stu slept in the spare room to give us both a better night’s sleep. I don’t really want to get up and I am always tired when I first wake up so I snooze for 10 minutes (or until Stu kicks me out of bed).
7.10am – I go turn the heater on (Canberra is cold people!) and then shower, hair, clothes, makeup. I’ve started picking out my outfits for the week on Sunday which is making it lots easier to get dressed in the morning.
7.40am – Head out to the kitchen and make coffees and breakfast. Get distracted by the dog looking cute. We let her in to sit on the couch while we have breakfast, otherwise she is very much an outside dog.
8.10am – Get hurried up by Stu to finish getting ready and leave
8.15am – Quick outfit photo on our way to the car (by Stu under extreme protest). Then Stu drives me to work. It’s a 30 min drive to work so we carpool most days to save on petrol and parking. I have to pay for parking at my work but Stu doesn’t so he drops me off on days when I don’t need to have the car.
9am – Go through my to do list and start on my work for the day.
10am – Being pregnant means I am getting up at least once an hour to go to the bathroom. Simultaneously cursing my tiny pregnancy bladder and thankful that it forces me to get up and away from my desk. While I’m up I make myself a cup of (herbal) tea. I’m loving this strawberry, raspberry and loganberry tea at the moment.
10.55am – Five minute snack and social media break. I’m hungry all the time so I snack way more than I used to! Another meeting has somehow snuck into my calendar for the afternoon.
11.30am – Get distracted by bubba kicking me. It’s still so weird to feel it!!
1pm – Heat up my lunch (leftovers from last night) and have a quick scroll through Facebook at my desk while I eat.
1.15pm – Go for a quick walk around the block to get away from my desk and take on some fresh air. The sunniness of the weather always tricks me and I forget to take my coat – it’s about 11 degrees outside!
1.35 – Back to my desk and time to start prepping for my afternoon meetings.
2pm – An afternoon of meetings starts and another cup of tea! This one was one of those ‘could have been a simple email’ meetings.
2.30pm – Next meeting – this one is with my section head and supervisor to go over some work. Came out of it with a gigantic to do list!
3.30pm – Start tackling my huge to-do list from the meeting.
5pm – Message my husband to see when he is coming to get me. Soon I hope!
5.15pm – Get picked up by my lovely husband and listen to him talk about cars (always talking about cars!!)
9.30pm – Make myself a cup of tea, part of my new ‘wind down’ routine at night.
9.45pm – Bed time! Which really means go to bed and scroll through Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest for about an hour until I’m tired enough to sleep!!
So that’s it for a day in my life!! I’ll do another one in maybe 6 months or so and no doubt my day will be vastly different!
Do you check social media when you should be sleeping?
