I’m feeling very massive and very easily tired right now. Getting off the couch or out of the car is a real struggle! I never realised how low the couch was at my parents house until I was there on the weekend and struggled to get up.
I’ve been a bit sick lately (again!) which is really annoying, I’m looking forward to having my immune system back. Bubba seems to not mind me being sick, she is happily kicking around in there like nothing is wrong. My doctor said that I’ll naturally pick up more germs while I’m pregnant and being prone to sinus issues pre-pregnancy means everything is just a little bit worse.
So if you’ve noticed that things have been slightly quieter around here lately, chalk it up to a combination of being sick and that third trimester exhaustion hitting me like a tonne of bricks.
In happier news, I had my baby shower on the weekend! Well, my first baby shower anyway. Because so many of my friends and family are still in Sydney, I’m actually having a baby shower in Sydney (which I had at my parents house on the weekend) and one in Canberra.
I felt a little indulgent having two, but it’s a hard distance for a lot of people to travel so it ended up being easier to have two showers rather than force one group of friends and family (all Stu’s family are here in Canberra) to either travel or miss out.
Once I’ve had my second baby shower I might do a little post on it, but I loved seeing so many of friends and family over the weekend. Even if I was still a little bit sick and very exhausted at the end of the weekend!
Something that is definitely making me feel closer to meeting our little bubba is almost finishing her room! It’s looking really good and we just have a few small things left to do and a couple of ‘essentials’ left to buy and then we’re all done.
I feel like trying to get everything ready for the baby arriving brings out some kind of weird doomsday preparation instinct where you feel the need to get absolutely everything you might need for the baby before they arrive. Like shops just cease to exist once you’ve had a child.
I keep reminding myself that if I don’t get everything I can always just go to the shop and pick up things I do need (or, more realistically, send my husband to the shop to get it!).
The other major thing that is signalling that I’m getting close to the end of this pregnancy business (aside from my ginormous and ever-increasing belly) is that I’m up to fortnightly appointments with my obstetrician and the midwives. I had my last monthly appointment last week, I’ll be seeing them fortnightly for the next month and then I’ll be onto weekly appointments!
When you look at it like that, it doesn’t seem like very long at all until the baby is here! I have been warned though that the third trimester feels like it goes forever so no doubt that last month will be exhaustingly slow!
Craving: still craving cake. I don’t know if I can legitimately call it a craving though. More of an intense want.
Eating: a lot of lazy meals. Especially while I was sick last week!
Drinking: hot water and lemon. Such great relief for a sore throat!
Feeling: in that awkward ‘slightly better but not quite well’ phase of coming out of being sick. Hoping it passes soon!
Dreaming: nothing that I can remember or that stands out.
Loving: all the gorgeous gifts people have bought for our baby girl. She is already so spoilt!
Over it: how difficult everything is now! Things take twice as long as they used to (like getting dressed, such an ordeal!)
Did you have a baby shower? How far along were you when you had yours?
Today I’m linking up with Essentially Jess for #IBOT (I blog on Tuesdays)
