This will be my last pregnancy update, because either way this baby will be born in the next week. My doctor will let me go 10 days overdue (which will be next Monday) before inducing me but I’m hoping that it all happens naturally before then!
I took that photo yesterday, figuring if I put some ‘real clothes’ and makeup on I would feel a bit more alive. It worked, for the most part. Otherwise I have been living in yoga pants and super comfy clothes.
I had pre-labour contractions for a couple of days a bit over a week ago, they actually started the day before my birthday so I thought she was going to come along on my birthday!
After 2 days of contractions I went along to the hospital to get checked out, turned out little miss wasn’t engaged (despite being engaged at my 38 and 39 week appointments!) so my contractions were doing nothing. So that was fun!
They’ve pretty much stopped now. I get fits and starts of contractions but they fizzle out after a little while so it’s just a waiting game to see when she’s ready.
I’ve had a lot of advice about what to do to induce labour but I figure she isn’t ready so I don’t want to rush her out. I want her to come when she is ready to be born and not before. Well, that’s true for the most part. There is a part of me that is very impatient to meet my baby girl but for the most part I want her to come when she is ready.
Sleep is eluding me. Everyone says ‘sleep now before the baby comes’. Great advice. I would sleep, if I could. I am just way too uncomfortable between back pain, leg cramps, heartburn and the inability to turn over without waking up.
Poor Stu is also getting next to no sleep because every time I wake up (or move) it wakes him up. So we’re both a bit sleep deprived, something that isn’t going to change any time soon I think!!
I told my doctor that the baby was being uncooperative, he laughed and said it was a great way to describe it! Apparently a lot of his patients have ‘uncooperative’ babies at the moment so there are a lot of overdue babies coming at my hospital!
Our dog has been super clingy lately, partly because she is recovering from a paw injury which required a little bit of emergency surgery and has been spending almost all her time inside (when normally she is an outside dog). It’s lucky I’ve been home to be able to look after her and make sure her paw heals properly.
We’re down a car at the moment because we had a roo strike on Stu’s car on his way home from the vet so we’re waiting to see if the car is written off or if they will repair it. So it’s been a fun few weeks!! Good timing. Luckily Stu’s car is the second car and my car is the ‘family’ car, but we’ll have some decisions to make if the car is written off.
It makes me really glad that we live walking distance to our local shops and I can still get out and about without a car for the most part. Also lucky that my mother-in-law lives up the road and has a car that we can borrow if we need to.
Things are likely to get a little quiet around here when the baby arrives but don’t worry, I’ll be sure to share all the news with you when it happens!
Craving: Thai food. Yum!!
Eating: jelly. I’m loving it at the moment!
Drinking: pineapple juice. All of the pineapple juice!
Feeling: very, very tired.
Dreaming: of our baby. I dreamt she had blonde curly hair the other night… which is weird because in my head she is a brunette.
Loving: that sometime in the next week I will be meeting my baby girl!
Over it: the waiting. It is tough!
Were you overdue with your babies? Any guesses on when this baby is going to make her appearance?
Today I’m linking up with Essentially Jess for #IBOT (I blog on Tuesdays)
