If you’re not familiar with Taking Stock, it’s a concept started by Pip at Meet Me At Mikes as a way to check in with what’s happening month to month, or season to season in your life.
So here is what is happening in my life lately:
Making: these little tag blankets for my baby girl while I’ve been on maternity leave for the last month.
Cooking: lots of slow cooker casseroles. Mostly because they are super easy, I’m super tired and the leftovers are good for freezing.
Drinking: pineapple juice. So much pineapple juice. Mostly because I’m craving it and partly because people say it’s supposed to help induce labour.
Reading: not much! I had all these plans of doing lots of reading before bubba came and I just haven’t had the energy. I have a stack of books on my bedside table that are untouched because I’m just too tired!
Wanting: to meet my baby girl!
Looking: very tired. And large. So very large!
Playing: babysitter for our dog. She cut her paw and proceeded to be very naughty and chew her stitches and bandages so she has had to stay inside (she’s normally an outside dog) and wear a cone. She still managed to chew her bandages off so we have to keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn’t disrupt her healing!
Deciding: on baby girl’s name. I’m 98% sure of the name we’ve picked. I’m hoping I will just know when I see her.
Wishing: for a trouble free first few weeks with baby girl.
Enjoying: the small amount of down time I’ve managed to enjoy between the crazy nesting phase of my maternity leave and labour. Sort of. Mostly.
Waiting: for labour to start. It’s a long and frustrating wait with pre-labour messing with my head!
Liking: the beautiful roses sent to me for my birthday from my family.
Wondering: what life will be like with a baby!
Loving: my husband. He is being so wonderful and supportive with my crazy hormones!
Pondering: what else I can watch on Netflix before this baby comes.
Considering: some more artwork for the baby’s room.
Buying: nothing interesting. Pretty much just groceries (thank goodness for online shopping!!). We’ve got pretty much everything for the baby and need to wait til she’s actually here to see what else we need.
Watching: Friends. I’ve been binge watching my fave old tv shows while I’m home alone. Watching House of Cards when Stu is home.
Hoping: for a nice, easy birth… wishful thinking?
Marvelling: at how a whole baby can fit inside me! The human body is quite incredible.
Cringing: internally every time someone asks me ‘are you sure it’s not twins?’. Next person who
Needing: hayfever to leave me alone this spring! I don’t know if I can handle it. Damn Canberra spring!
Questioning: if this baby will ever come out! I’m starting to feel like I’m going to be pregnant forever.
Smelling: my new favourite candle, the gorgeous black Manhattan candle from Glasshouse.
Wearing: lots of pjs and yoga clothes. And the occasional dress that still fits when I can be bothered getting properly dressed. A lot of my clothes do not fit anymore!
Following: French Words on Instagram, I’m loving it!
Noticing: how clingy the dog has been since I’ve been pregnant! She now has decided that she likes sitting on top of me!
Knowing: that the end is very near for this pregnancy (thank goodness!!). My induction date is set now so I definitely know that by this time next week I will have my little girl in my arms. It makes it a bit easier knowing that an end date is in sight.
Thinking: of taking a nice relaxing bath. That sounds like a great idea right now.
Admiring: Sonia’s home office, you should check it out – it’s so gorgeous.
Sorting: washing. It seems to never, ever end!
Getting: a little more sleep than I have been (finally!). I ended up having to get some sleeping tablets to use occasionally because I just was not coping with the contractions of pre-labour and extreme exhaustion. Being heavily pregnant is super uncomfortable and I was waking every half an hour or so and just couldn’t get comfortable. It’s so nice to have a night where I only wake up 3 or 4 times, instead of constantly, especially as I won’t be getting much sleep once the baby is here.
Bookmarking: this post from Styling You with her capsule wardrobe for spring. 28 outfit combinations from 17 items! I’m going to try to start building my post-pregnancy wardrobe in small steps and this is a great guide for building outfits from basics.
Coveting: all the new marble necklaces from Blush & Co, seriously everything she makes is amazing.
Disliking: being so uncomfortable! I’m really looking forward to sleeping on my stomach again.
Opening: the pages of my baby book to fill in some things before she gets here.
Giggling: at all those ‘dog shaming’ pictures you see on Facebook. I find them hysterical and it puts our dogs naughtiness into perspective!
Feeling: amazed that I can still wear my engagement and wedding rings. I was expecting to be super puffy by now!
Snacking: on everything in sight. I’m all about yoghurt topped muesli bars right now.
Helping: Stu get used to the idea of no sleep by keeping him up all night with my tossing and turning. Apparently.
Hearing: the heater running. It’s been a cold winter and it’s still a little chilly so I think we’ll be still using our heater for a while longer.
