A while ago I took you through a typical day in my life, but things have changed a lot since then so I thought I would bring you along with me on a day in my life for my 10 on 10 this month so you can see what I get up to and just how my life has changed since having Grace.
If you’re new here, the 10 on 10 is where I join up with some other lovely bloggers to share our ’10 on 10′ – 10 pictures on the 10th that tells the story of a day in our life. It’s a big linky loop of love so make sure you check out the link to the next blog at the bottom of my post and make your way around the loop to check out the 10 on 10 from my bloggy friends.
This is such a fun way to keep a photographic record of different stages of our lives (especially now with Grace changing practically by the minute!) and a little peek into the lives of some other bloggers, which deep down we all love!
So, on to my day!
6.30am Woken up by Grace chatting away in her bassinet. She’s still in her bassinet but in our study (which comes off our bedroom). I’m not quite ready to have her in her room yet! Stu gets up to get her out of bed and change her before he brings her to me in bed so I can feed her.
7am After feeding Grace we have some family cuddles in bed. Stu will usually try to go back to sleep for a bit but Grace is a very noisy morning girl and likes to try to stop him from sleeping.
7.20am Stu (reluctantly) gets up for a shower so I cuddle Grace for a bit longer before I put her back into her bassinet, hoping she goes to sleep. She will only go back to sleep about 1/3 of the time but it’s worth a try.
7.30am I jump in the shower and wash my hair.
7.40am I do my morning skincare routine and come out of the bathroom to find Grace laying on our bed. Stu gets her back out of the bassinet if she’s fussing and lays her on the bed while we get ready. She likes to be where the action is! I get dressed and do a quick tidy of the bedroom.
7.50am Grace and I head out to the kitchen for breakfast and join Stu while he is finishing his breakfast. If Grace is awake now I give her a little something to eat. Usually I give her something she can feed herself but I had some puree to use up so I give that a go. She’s not a fan of puree and ends up wearing more than she eats.
8.05am Stu leaves for work. I finish my breakfast then put Grace on her playmat for a little play while I hang out the washing (which I put in the washing machine the night before) and tidy up the living room.
8.30 I change and feed Grace then load her into the pram then head out for our morning walk. Grace used to sleep for our whole walk, now she’ll only sleep for about 20 minutes!
9.45am Meet up with some of the other mums from my mothers group and walk to the cafe to catch up and have a coffee.
10am Settle in at one of our local cafes for a coffee, a muffin and some excellent company. (I have to feed and change Gracie while we’re there)
11.30am Head off from the cafe and visit the local butcher and supermarket to pick up some dinner supplies.
11.45am Walk home (where Grace promptly falls asleep in her pram!)
12pm Get home and put the groceries away. Grace is still asleep in her pram so I leave her in there and sit down in the living room for a little time on my laptop to check some blogs and do a little blogging of my own!
12.30pm Grace wakes up so I change her and we have a little play on her mat and take some selfies. She’s obsessed with my phone, it keeps her very entertained.
1pm Give Grace a little top up feed (I do this when it’s really hot like today), change her and put her in her cot for a nap (and hope she actually goes to sleep).
1.10pm Watch Grace thrash around in her cot and doze on and off on the baby monitor for 40 minutes before she finally falls asleep! I spend a little more time on the laptop while waiting for her to drift off.
1.50pm I really need to sort out dinner while Grace is still asleep so I cook some chicken schnitzel and make up a salad.
2.30pm I see Grace stirring on the baby monitor but I usually leave her to see if she’ll go back to sleep.
3pm I give up hope for Grace going back to sleep so I get her up and change her (and quickly discover the reason she wouldn’t go back to sleep… let’s just say she really needed a nappy change lol). I play with her for a little while and then give her a feed.
3.45pm We took a little walk down to our local library so I could pick up some books I had on hold (including Aziz Ansari’s Modern Romance – I’m so looking forward to reading it!)
4.30pm Get home from the library and get a call from Stu letting me know he has to work late tonight. It’s a bit late to put Grace down for a nap so she plays on the floor.
5pm I have dinner while Grace is entertaining herself on her playmat
6pm I get Grace changed and ready for bed then give her a feed.
6.20pm Settle Grace into bed
6.40pm Get Grace up for some cuddles because she’s a bit unsettled
7pm Resettle Grace in bed for the night
7.10pm A bit of housework time (so exciting!) – cleaning the kitchen, get the washing off the line, fold and put away our clothes, vacuum the house.
7.40pm Stu is home! We catch up about his day before he excitedly starts playing the game he just bought and I watch I’m A Celebrity (oh the shame!) on the tv in the family room. While I watch TV I put together Grace’s cloth nappies that have just been washed and put them away. I also put a load of washing on ready for me to hang out in the morning.
9pm Head to bed to read for a while before going to sleep. I was reading The Queen’s Fool by Philippa Gregory and was a bit naughty and stayed up late to finish it. I was very tired the next morning!
Side note: Babies have no appreciation for parents who stay up late reading. My 6am wake up call the next morning was not fun!
Please make sure you check out the next awesome blogger in our little 10 on 10 link up of love (totally not what it’s called but I’m going with it) – pop over to Pierced Wonderings to see the lovely Jen’s 10 on 10.
