I’m a sucker for a bargain, a collaboration and a bit of a novelty item. The Anna and Lily Cult Beauty Box falls into all three categories for me! Anna (Vivianna Does Makeup) and Lily (Lily Pebbles) are my two favourite beauty bloggers so I was always going to buy anything they were involved in.
I also really love Cult Beauty (it’s where I get my stash of my beloved Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel) and although the Aussie dollar is a bit rubbish at the moment, the deduction of VAT on checkout means the prices aren’t unreasonable at all.
If you follow me on Snapchat (@lifeatnumber5) you would have seen the unboxing when it was delivered but I thought today I would show you what was in the beauty box and what my thoughts are on the lovely products it included.
I love, love, love this beautiful box! It was very exciting to get it (and I love anything marble and gold) and it just added a really nice ‘luxe’ factor to the whole experience.
Several of the products are ones I already use and love, so although not new to me they were ones I was going to repurchase anyway so made it well worth getting this box because in total it was a 43% saving on the products (actually, probably closer to 50% once you take off the VAT)! So I’ll start with the ones I already use.
The Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel I absolutely love. I’m onto my second bottle of it, so this will be my third, and there are no signs of my love for this slowing down. I mentioned it in my February Favourites post and my skincare routine post, and I just love the way it makes my skin look. Definitely worth a try if you haven’t used it yet!
The Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist is what I use every morning as a ‘toner’. It’s a great way to keep my skin nicely hydrated. I’m halfway through my first bottle (which you can see in my skincare routine post) and I had planned on repurchasing so it worked out very well!
The makeup item included that I already own (and love) was the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner. I’ve tried a lot of liquid liners in my time and this is my favourite. The one in the beauty box will be my fourth, so you know it’s good if I’ve repurchased it so many times. I had almost finished my current one so another timely replacement purchase! It is the easiest liquid liner to use and has a really small and precise tip but is easy to thicken up if needed. It doesn’t budge once you put it on and it stays truly black all day, both of which are important for me because I used to struggle to find a liquid liner that would do either!
The Wet Brush is another one I already owned but I only had one so I think this one will live in my travel bag. I never used to brush my hair regularly before I got this brush. My hair is quite wavy when it dries naturally so brushing it when it’s dry produces alarming amounts of frizz. I love this brush because I can brush my hair while it’s still wet straight out of the shower with no pulling or breakage but before I towel dry it and scrunch it to keep my wave. It’s definitely good if you brush your hair while it’s wet but worry about breakage.
Now the things that were new to me!
The Yu Ling Rollers Jade Facial Roller is something I have been wanting to try but wasn’t sure about so it was lovely to give it a try in this box! It’s a lot sturdier and heavier than I was anticipating (which is a good thing!) and it feels so nice to roll it over my face. I tend to use it at night after I’ve cleansed and moisturised so it’s massaging the products in a bit more. Whether or not it’s made a difference in de-puffing my face I think is a bit hard to say at this stage but I am liking it a lot!
The Becca Backlight Priming Filter* is another one I’ve been wanting to try (especially because Anna raves about it!) and it’s a travel size which is a great option for testing it out. It goes on really beautifully and gives a nice glow to the skin without being too shiny or glittery. I’ve been applying it with my Beauty Blender before my base and I think I will be buying a full-size version of this product before long!
I think my favourite of all the new things I received in this box is the Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Oil. It’s a product I’ve been wanting to try for a while but the price was a bit prohibitive for me. The size is a half size product which is a good way to try it out but it’s a fairly decent size so I think it will last me for quite a while. The timing was quite good as I had just run out of my Aesop facial oil so I got to replace it with the Luna Sleeping Oil at night. I really like it, it feels and smells amazing and although I still think I need a bit longer with it to see if it’s making a long-term difference to my skin, so far I’m loving it.
So that’s what was in the Anna and Lily Cult Beauty Box and what I thought of the products!
