I’ve found that I don’t post on social media much on two very different occasions. The first is when I’m out and enjoying my day with great company that makes me not pick up my phone for long enough to post on social media. The second is when I’m really sick. The latter is where I’ve been at for the past few days.
Social media (particularly Instagram and now Snapchat) is my happy place for the most part. I don’t like posting when I don’t feel good (for whatever reason) because sharing online when I’m not feeling well is just not my default setting. I just don’t feel inspired to post and, to be completely honest, I don’t have much to share.
So you won’t generally find me posting on the internet (this post aside…) when I’m sad or sick or angry, because I much prefer to deal with those things on my own. Or with my family.
I don’t love being social when I’m sick, which includes social media. I much prefer to wallow in my sickness on the couch, watch lots of tv, drink warm drinks and eat lots of yummy soup (I’ve been making minestrone soup a lot lately!).
So for the past few days that is exactly what I have been doing. Which is why you have this post today (written late Monday afternoon in a brief period of respite when Grace is having a late nap before dinner) instead of a usual, more interesting Tuesday post.
I’m sure it’s just a bad cold and I hope it goes away sooner rather than later. I miss feeling properly energised and I miss leaving the house!
So if you see things start to pick up on social media, take it as a good sign that I’m improving!
Do you sign off on social media when you’re sick too?
