It’s really different doing it this time because I’m pregnant and only have a limited wardrobe to work with due to not fitting into pretty much any of my old clothes, so I’ve had to be even more creative than usual to make it work!!
It’s been a great way to avoid falling into a fashion rut while I’m pregnant when it would be so easy to wear the same thing every day, and I’m loving seeing what everyone else is wearing.
If you’re not familiar with it, the Style Dare was created by Andrea at Fox in Flats as a way to bust out of a fashion rut and it’s so much fun!!
This is what I’ve been wearing so far in May:…
Now that I’ve passed the halfway mark of what feels like the longest pregnancy ever I thought now would be as good a time as any to give you a run down of the products I am loving as a pregnant lady and things that are making my life easier.
(Fun story: adding to my feeling like this is an incredibly long pregnancy, the other day my sister-in-law – who I might add, was present when we told the family I was pregnant at Christmas – said ‘when are you due again? November?’ I almost died!)…
I started having terrible bloating at about week 7 which made it look like I had a little bump and I started showing in earnest by about week 10. I didn’t want to tell anyone except immediate family until the end of the first trimester so I quickly had to figure out how to hide my rapidly expanding tummy.
These are things I found that worked for me….
I love doing my makeup, but some days I just want a quick makeup look to help me look a little more polished (read: awake) for when I am heading to work. This is where my quick and easy five minute makeup routine comes into play!
I’ve been relying heavily on my quick makeup routine at the moment. I’m still exhausted with early pregnancy tiredness and I am so sleepy in the mornings it’s a struggle to get out of bed and get ready for work. My husband claims he has to wake me up about five times in the morning at the moment, but I have no recollection of that so it mustn’t be true!
To get this look you just need five minutes, it’s the perfect quick makeup to help you look a bit more ‘done’ and is quick enough to be done in a rush….
Marsala didn’t immediately win me over as ‘Colour of the Year’, especially compared with the beautiful Radiant Orchid of 2014. I’m slowly coming around to Marsala but if you need little bit of convincing too, I’ve come up with a collection of items to help ease into a Marsala coloured 2015 in your makeup bag, wardrobe, and home. Fox in Flats‘ Darecember is back! I’m so happy about this. If you aren’t familiar with Darecember, it is a Style Dare run by the lovely Andrea at Fox in Flats to bring back some style to the silly season. The Fox in Flats Style Dares are always so much fun and give me great inspiration for new ways to wear my existing collection of clothes (very important if you’re trying to not buy any new clothes like I am!). I’ve also been introduced to some lovely friends and bloggers on Instagram by participating in the Style Dares.
Head over to Fox in Flats to check out all the details….
For my Friday Five today I thought I would do a mini gift guide of five gorgeous beauty related presents for you to give this Christmas (or buy for yourself and keep, shhhh I won’t tell anyone!). These are all lovely and I would love to see them under the tree for me this year (hint hint)!
Plus I’ve thrown in a sneaky sixth one today so keep reading to find out my five (plus one!) beautiful gifts for Christmas….
I love red lipstick, it’s a great way to feel more polished with very little effort. It’s also good for Monday mornings when you’re tired and want to have the focus anywhere but your eyes. For my Friday Five today I thought I would share with you five of the best red lipsticks (according to me).
Fox in Flats Style Dare for September has come to an end! I’ll admit that this week was hard for me! It was a chaotically busy week at work and some of these prompts were hard to come up with something for!
I’ve pushed this out to today to include the two days of this week, so I’ve got my Week 4 and a half wrap up for you today!…
Until a month ago, I hadn’t had a fringe for at least seven years. I had a blunt fringe like the one I am currently sporting for about 10 minutes while I was in uni, but for the most part had a side fringe.
Having a blunt fringe has taught me some fringe-related lessons I never thought of before I cut it. I have complied a list of need to know tips if you’re planning on going the full-fringe like me:
Fox in Flats Style Dare for September is well underway and I am loving it! Are you playing along as well?
Instead of inundating you at the end of the month with 30 photos, I thought I’d break it up into the four weeks of September and give you some small updates along the way of what I’ve been wearing. (You can see my post for the start of the dare here).
Day 1 was straight into the classic Style Dare: Red Lipstick
I’m wearing a Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Always Red 01. I love this colour and the formula is really long lasting and not overly drying. I raved about this stuff in my post on my beauty pickups from Europe and my love for it is still going strong!
It’s back! Andrea from Fox in Flats has created another wonderful month of style dares for September. You can check out all the details on the Style Dare here.
I love the Fox in Flats Style Dare. It’s a great way to get inspired about what clothes you’ve already got and come up with new outfits that you might never have imagined.
My favourite part of the Style Dares though is the community that has built up around them. There are some very lovely ladies that I have ‘met’ on Instagram thanks to this Style Dare and the camaraderie that exists around these dares is amazing. Everyone is so encouraging and complimentary, as well as giving me some great new outfit ideas and some awesome new bloggers to follow.
